About Me

I grew up in a very creative household. My Mum was always spinning, dying wool or weaving. Skeins of beautiful naturally dyed wool hung from every hook possible in the kitchen to dry. Fabrics and colour, a constant source of discussion for my Dad’s latest Interior Architecture project, or model making was going on in the workshop.

I started sewing in my early years at home and at primary school, making for family, friends and myself. My first commission was to make a skirt when I was in high school. Then I went on to study Embroidery, Art and Design in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Latterly, millinery was added to my portfolio.

I set up my dressmaking business, Blue Cat Clothing, 20 years ago. Named after my constant sewing companion and lover of tissue paper, my cat Blue.

I hope that my clients have the comfort of knowing that their discussions with me about their outfits keep them involved in the whole process, and they are ready for their event with an outfit which is individual and designed just for them.

I Make High Quality, Bespoke clothing

Designing and dressmaking is my passion. I strive to give trust and confidence to my clients, wearing a bespoke garment for their special day.

From initial consultations, through discussing the garment they require, to advice on style, choosing fabrics and colour to suit body shape and the event.
Using fine quality fabrics from silks, wools, linens and cottons. Laces, satins, chiffons and tweeds.

After the initial consultations, I will put together some sketches, samples of chosen fabrics and costings based on the design ideas we have discussed.
